The SAFE+ Program, operated by the by Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), offers specialized medical-forensic care for patients aged 12 years or older who have experienced unwanted sexual contact. By implementing these three steps, you can help play a vital role in ensuring that your patient receives the care they deserve.

Notice to Healthcare Providers

If your patient is a survivor of sexual assault or gender-based violence, please take the following steps to ensure their safety and well-being

Manage the patient with trauma-informed care

Prioritize urgent medical needs.

Show empathy and respect for the patient's autonomy.
